LUCY McHugh's killer Stephen Nicholson once barricaded staff at a children's home inside a room and held one of them at knife point.

High on amphetamines, the then 14-year-old held took adult staff members hostage, threatening them with knives, holding one to the throat of a female staff member.

He corralled staff and children into a room, locked them in, stole over £1000 from the safe holding another resident at knifepoint and drove off in a staff car.

He received a 24-month detention and training order after pleading guilty to false imprisonment, possession of a knife, two counts of theft from a person and aggravated vehicle taking.

Whilst being held in the detention centre he and two others barricaded themselves inside a servery there.

He caused £1,000's worth of damage and then attacked staff, repeatedly stabbing at one of them with sharp implements taken from the servery.

The staff member was wearing full protective gear and was unharmed.

He was convicted of affray and criminal damage.
