A SOUTHAMPTON man was left trapped under his mobility scooter after being rammed with a trolley by a gang of youths.

The 63-year-old was making his way down Woburn Road just after 8.30pm on Sunday, July 28, when a group of teenagers approached him next to the underpass.

The victim was rammed with a trolley that the group had been seen to be walking with before he was tipped him off his mobility scooter.

The victim was left stuck under his scooter which trapped him between the scooter and a fence.

The youths fled the scene leaving the man trapped without any assistance.

The victim was found on the floor of the underpass with his legs squished by the scooter, which was on its side.

His feet were trapped under the railing of the underpass.

Police arrived at the scene and helped free the victim, who was later taken to hospital to be treated for injuries, although it is believed they we “not serious”.

Now, police are appealing for information to find the people who assaulted the victim and are asking for witnesses to come forward.

An online appeal on Facebook was posted on Sunday night to help find the group who assaulted the victim.

The post was shared by dozens of social media users along with a picture of the victim on the floor, but the post was later deleted.

So far, no one has been found in connection with the assault.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: “We were called at 8.51pm on Sunday to Woburn Road after reports of an assault.

“The victim was taken to Southampton General Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be serious.”
