TWO people have been arrested after police launched a raid at a suspected drug den in a Southampton neighbourhood.

Officers “piled out” of two riot vans to carry out the raid at an address in Braishfield Close, Milbrook.

A 35-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of supplying cocaine and when the Daily Echo went to press both were still in police custody.

According to a local resident the men were led away in cuffs during the operation which took place at around 9am on Monday.

A Braishfield Close resident who wanted to remain anonymous said: “I was putting out the rubbish when I heard huge scream.

"A man was outside and ran to the house that was raided and pushed a woman inside. They were shouting and fighting,

"They slammed the door behind them. Minutes later two police riot vans pulled up and four officers piled out.

"They surrounded the house with two of them covering the back door. About half an hour later they brought out two men in handcuffs.”

A resident who lives nearby said: “We have been here for forty years and it is usually a quiet close.

"There have been problems since before Christmas when the people moved in. There is always arguing, screaming and shouting.

"Cars come up and down revving their engines. I am sick of it. When you hear the noise late at night you do not feel safe.”

A police spokesperson said: “Police officers carried out a warrant at an address in Braishfield Close, Millbrook, on Monday morning.

"A 35-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of supplying of cocaine. They are both in custody at this time.”

Residents were given leaflets by the police warning them of “cuckooing” - when drug dealers take over a drug users home to deal from.
