SAINTS legend Francis Benali received a £20,000 cheque from motor group Peter Cooper, based at Hedge End, after completing his 'Iron Fran' charity challenge.
As part of his cancer research fund, the donation helped to break the £1million mark after Franny and his team took on a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile cycle and a 26.2 mile run every single day for seven consecutive days.
The money was fundraised by staff using exercise bikes, treadmills and rowing machines in their showrooms for one day during Fran’s challenge, where customer and staff donations poured in as each site individually covered a marathon, cycled 112 miles and rowed a minimum of 20 miles, and also raised money at their annual golf event in Goodwood.
Managing director Darren Cooper also completed a marathon on the treadmill, and said: "Everyone at The Peter Cooper Motor Group, like many thousands of people around the country, were very moved by seeing the suffering that Franny was putting himself through during his latest Iron Man challenge.
Francis Benali said: “I’d like to thank Darren, his golf friends and all the Peter Cooper staff and customers for their amazing efforts."
