SAINSBURY'S supermarket in Hedge End has submitted a planning application to build an extension.
Submitted to Eastleigh Borough Council the proposal is to build a single-storey "retail pod" attached to the western side of the supermarket.
It would be used by Timpson which provide shoe repairs and key cutting services.
The application site is the existing Sainsbury’s food store and car park located off Tollbar Way.
Planning permission is sought for the relocation of the existing Timpson retail concession facility from inside the store to a purpose-built retail pod.
The self-contained pod will have an internal floor space of approximately 14.5sqm and will be accessed from outside Sainsbury's.
