Mylittlebrother are looking forward to a get-together with with old mates at the Krankenhaus music festival organised by fellow-Cumbrians British Sea Power next month.

They will be part of a varied line-up that only BSP could pull together- including Joy Division and New Order legend Stephen Morris, former snooker world champion-turned DJ Steve Davis, and a bird of prey display...

Drummer Simon Buttress said: “When I first heard that British Sea Power were bringing Krankenhaus to Cumbria, I said ‘I’d love to play at that’ and a couple of messages later, we were!

“BSP are a great live band and I‘ve seen them too many times to admit. The Krankenhaus has a stellar line up of performers and speakers, it’s going to be a brilliant and unforgettable weekend.”

Playing the festival, which runs from September 6-8, will be a major highlight for the Carlisle band and guitarist/vocalist Dan Mason commented: “Kendal Calling was a bit mad. It rained so heavily on the Saturday it turned a perfect festival into a seething mud bath.

“In between all the gigs we’ve also been in the studio recording the second album, Howl. We’re in the process of mixing and mastering and we’re hoping to get it out towards the end of the year.

“In September we’re also playing Penrith’s Sticky Wicket Festival and making our annual pilgrimage up to Skiddaw House to play an acoustic set. Simon actually carries a drum kit up there, it’s a four mile walk, it’s mad!”

Will Harris, keyboards and vocals, added: “We’ve tried really hard to create a record that sounds like the band we are now. Our previous releases haven’t really captured that.

“I would describe the songs as having a warmer, fuller sound and they have a distinct weight: a combination of more accomplished arrangements.

“I think we have been consistent and created some insanely catchy pop songs and yet they still hide that trademark cynical, sometimes melancholic, darker undertone.”

Also appearing at the festival will be poet laureate Simon Armitage, Snapped Ankles, Pictish Trail and Emmy award-nominee Hannah Peel For festival tickets, go to www.krankenhausfestival.com
