BOXING fans in Bradford were left in disbelief this evening, as World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder popped over for a facial.

He stopped off at Prity, a salon on Legrams Lane, at around 5:30pm ahead of his visit to Mr T's in Batley.

Fatima Patel, marketing assistant at the salon, said: "The owner (Priti Farooq) has a son who has just started amateur boxing, so when we heard Deontay was coming to Mr T's, we rang up his manager, and Deontay agreed to come and give him some tips.

"A men's service is being launched at the salon so Deontay was the first to come and try it. It was perfect as it's designed for active people in training like him.

"Besides, I'm sure it was more relaxing than being in the ring and getting knocked about."

Later on there were boisterous scenes in Batley as the Alabama Slammer turned up to the opening of the new Mr T's.

The man himself seemed impressed with his welcome, tweeting: "Batley is lit right now... thanks to all my UK fans for the continuous love you give. What and amazing time every damn time from start litereally to finish you guys don't stop."

Batley & Spen MP Tracy Brabin grabbed a selfie with the world champion, tweeting: "It's amazing to see so many businesses choosing Batley to be their home, and for us to welcome a world class athlete."
