A TEENAGER who dodged a £4 train fare at a Southampton station and tried to give a false name has been slapped with a £500 court bill.
Harold Boateng, 18, intentionally avoided paying the fare, for a South Western Railway service, at Southampton Central Station.
He then gave a train guard a false name and address.
Boateng, of Sidney Road, London, was not present for his court case at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.
The case was proved in his absence.
Boateng was fined a total of £330 and ordered to pay court costs of £160.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and compensation of £4 to South Western Railway.
