A SOUTHAMPTON teenager who damaged food items in a city store and assaulted a police sergeant has been ordered to undergo drug dependency treatment.

Bradley James O'Dell damaged food items and a metal barrier at One Stop in Exford Avenue, Southampton.

The incident took place on December 2 last year.

The 18-year-old also stole food worth £7.85 from the same store a week later.

On January 3, O'Dell assaulted a police sergeant in Southampton.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, O'Dell pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage, one count of theft and one count of assault.

He was made the subject of a 15 month community order, including a six month drug dependency treatment plan.

O'Dell, of Blendworth Lane, Southampton, was also ordered to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement, pay £214 in compensation to One Stop and £100 in compensation to the police sergeant.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and fined £150.
