A PERSON has died on the railway in Boscombe this morning.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the tracks at 6.35am today following a report of a 'casualty on the tracks'.

Paramedics also attended.

However, the casualty has since been pronounced dead. 

A spokesperson from BTP said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their next of kin.

"A report will also be prepared for the coroner."

Trains were halted between Poole and Brockenhurst this morning after the incident was reported.

It was initially said that problems were expected on the rails until 2pm. However, they have since reopened.

Police were called to the footbridge between St Clement's Road and South Road in Boscombe. 

Earlier this morning, a spokesperson from National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Poole and Brockenhurst, resulting in all lines being shut.

"Network Rail response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident. In order to allow emergency services access to the railway, all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area."

However, shortly before 9am, the spokesperson said: "All lines have reopened following the emergency services having dealt with an incident between Poole and Brockenhurst."
