THE Ageas Bowl is set to stage the venue’s first ever Comedy Night.

The event- which takes place tonight ( Friday), hosted in partnership with House of Comedy, is headlined by one of the UK’s finest comedians, Shappi Khorsandi .

The award-winning stand-up comedian will top a bill of five performers on the evening.

Born in Tehran, Shappi Khorsandi was bought up in London after her family fled Iran following the Islamic Revolution as her satirist father, Hadi, criticised the Ayatollah.

She started stand up comedy around 1997, and made her first appearance at Edinburgh in 2000 – as part of a triple-hander show with Russell Brand and Mark Felgate.

Shappi made her solo debut in 2003, returning in 2006 and 2007 – the year she was nominated for best breakthrough act at the Chortle Awards.

The former I’m a Celebrity TV star has featured on many popular TV and Radio Shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, QI, Just A Minute and other flagship Radio Four Programmes. She joined the line-up of the ITV hit show, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here in 2017, but was the first celebrity to be eliminated, saying she found it tough to be herself with cameras following her every move.

Shappi is also an author, most notably penning the best-selling autobiographical book, A Beginner’s Guide to Acting English..

Following impressive performances across the UK comedy circuit, Elliot Steel, Nick Jones, Joshua Robertson and Phil Kay will also take to the stage as part of an evening of laughter and entertainment hosted in the venue’s Ageas Bowl Suite.

Tickets for the Ageas Bowl’s Comedy Night are priced from £20 with a limited number of tickets available to purchase.
