IT was already one of Hampshire’s biggest one-day agricultural events, yet Alresford show on September 4, 1999, drew a record-breaking crowd.
The show at Tichborne Park near Winchester boasted a capacity crowd of 13,000, each of them eager to watch a host of farm animals in competitions and shop in the numerous stalls.
In glorious sunshine people whittled away the hours by picnicking under trees between perusing the many fine wares available.
