A NEW hyperspeed broadband network is live in Southampton following a £50m investment.

Toob’s network is now operational in Southampton, delivering incredible 900Mbps speeds on both download and upload.

The company is hoping to deliver the network to more than 100,000 properties in the city, working with both residents and businesses.

The broadband provider is investing £50 million into the city to provide super-fast broadband and are working with the city council.

Civic chiefs have supported the investment saying that the council is "committed to tech investment".

The network promises to be 16x faster than the UK average speed on download and 125x faster on upload, based on the latest information from Ofcom.

The speeds mean that downloading a TV series of 9.5GB, which would usually take 20 minutes, will take 1.5 minutes.

It also means that uploading will be much faster so uploading 1GB, which would normally take 18 minutes, will reportedly take less than ten seconds.

Company toob’s network will deliver a 100 per cent full fibre connection all the way to homes and businesses, giving customers reliable and consistent broadband, no matter the number of users or the time of day.

Residents and businesses should register their interest at toob.co.uk to ensure they are kept up to date with toob’s rollout.

As well as being able to download the latest Fortnite update in 80 seconds (9GB) or FIFA 20 in six minutes (40 GB), the low latency that comes with a full fibre service will give any gamer an edge online.

Nick Parbutt, CEO of toob, said: “This is another great step in bringing the benefits of full fibre connectivity to Southampton.

"It is fantastic to see our network working and delivering the speeds and performance that we expect.

"We are very excited about the next steps as we start to deploy the network and start connecting customers to toob’s hyperspeed broadband.”

Councillor Christopher Hammond, leader of Southampton City Council, said: “Toob’s making fantastic progress in rolling out their network.

"The work will benefit Southampton’s businesses and residents for years to come, helping the city to thrive in a digital age.

"We’re committed to tech investment and our digital economy is booming because of this.”

Toob is a full fibre broadband provider based on the South Coast.

Toob is deploying their own network and offering residential and business customers 900Mbps symmetrical broadband.

Toob is investing £50 million in Southampton to deploy its network to 100,000 properties over the next two years, with a view to reach a total of over 1 million properties across the South of England.
