THE M27 has been reopened after a serious van fire caused the motorway to close overnight.

The road was opened by 3.30am this morning.

This comes after fire crews were rushed to the blaze on the hard shoulder of the M27 between junctions 4 and 5 yesterday morning.

Around 150 litres of hydraulic oil and diesel were spilt across the carriageway as a result of the fire.

Thousands of motorists were caught in severe traffic and were caused at least one hour in delays.
