A POLICE probe has been launched after a man's body was found in a wooded area.

Police were called at 7.27am on Wednesday after the body of a 30-year-old man from Eastleigh was discovered in the copse area to the rear of Pilgrims Close in Chandlers Ford.

Cordons were put up around a pathway and woodland behind Park & St Francis Surgery for several hours.

School children and parents from nearby St Francis Primary School had to find alternative routes in the morning.

Officers carried out initial enquiries surrounding the man's death and informed his next of kin.

According to police the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

One witness said: "There was an ambulance and three police cars in the area at around 7.20am. The police were coming and going for a couple of hours. They taped off a pathway and some of the woods."
