AN ANNUAL walking event is returning to Test Valley.

The 16th Walk the Test Way is a charity event that lets you walk across Test Valley for your chosen charity, a total of 700 people are expected to be walking.

There are five walks taking place on the charity fun day, they range from a 5 mile walk to a 25 mile walk.

The finish line will be at Romsey Memorial Park and there are five different start points across the day.

Buses are provided from Romsey to make sure you reach the starting point on time.

Point one starts at St Mary Bourne, which is a 25.5 mile walk and buses leave Romsey at 7am.

Point two starts at Wherwell, which is a 16 mile walk and buses leave Romsey at 9am.

Point three starts at Stockbridge, which is a 11 mile walk and buses leave Romsey between 10:15am and 10:30am.

Point four starts at Horsebridge, which is a 8 mile walk and buses leave Romsey at 11:30am.

The final point starts at Mottisfont Church, which is a 5 mile walk and buses leave Romsey at 12:15pm.

The event is fully marshalled, patrolled and signed at key points until 5:30pm and toilets are on the route.

Chairman of Walk the Test Way, Sandy Dunn, said: "We have raised £864,000 for local charities and we aim to do a two year project to take it over £1million.

"To raise £140,000 within the next two years is way within our capability."

The 66-year-old from Ampfield added: "We have 500 walkers registered already, it is a great number for this year and there is plenty of time for more before registration closes."

Romsey Town Centre Manager, Mark Edgerley, said: "This is a fabulous annual event enabling community groups and charities from Romsey and surrounding area to raise much needed funds by involving their supporters.

"Rotary Romsey Test make it so easy for organisations by dealing with all the planning and logistics to ensure a low risk safe event that is beneficial to so many in our community, what could be more enjoyable than a stroll down the beautiful Test Valley knowing you are helping a good cause."

The walk takes place on Sunday, September 29.

Registration is £14 for adults and £8 for under 18s, which is payable in advance at www.walkthetestway.org.uk

Prior to the walk, you will be given a time to chick in at the Crossfield Hall, Romsey from where you will be given your free transport to your chosen start point.

Walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dogs to be kept under strict control and on a short lead at all times.
