A special art exhibition will be opening its doors in Carlisle to celebrate the city’s textile revolution.

Prism Arts is exploring Carlisle’s textile industry from the 1700s, looking at how the major changes in technology and transportation made Carlisle into one of the country’s major textile towns. The project has been made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Four different groups have been working on artwork for two exhibitions, one at Carlisle Library and the other at Whitehaven Library.

The Carlisle Library exhibition opens on Tuesday, September 24,. Work completed by stroke survivors and school children will be on display.
