NEARLY £4,000 was raised at a charity auction run by Llanidloes Rotary Club for Guide Dogs for The Blind at the Llanidloes Rugby Club.
Auctioneer Andrew Turner persuaded the people of Llanidloes to part with their cash for a good cause. Everything from bags of manure to holidays in Spain went under the hammer with over 40 lots sold to the highest bidder.
Rotary president John Selwyn-Smith thanked his small committee for all the help they gave in setting up the event which was opened by the Mayor of Llanidloes. John said “without the support of the generous people in the area, Llanidloes Rotary Club, Llanidloes Rugby Club and the publicity given to us by The County Times, we would not have been able to put on this event and raise so much.
"A special thank you must go to Andrew Turner who worked so hard to get people to support this event by buying lots. This means that we have raised over £7,000 in the last year which will go towards training a guide dog for a blind or partially sighted person which is a wonderful result.”
