POLICE are warning residents to stay vigilant after an attempted burglary in Rownhams.

Thieves gained entry to a property in Horns Drive by forcing open a patio door at the rear of the property.

The offender was disturbed by the resident and left the property quickly before exiting via a patio door.

The incident happened between 4pm and 5pm on September 26.

Police are urging residents to close and lock their windows and doors when left unattended and to use timer switches to make their property look occupied.

Residents should ensure valuables are kept out of view from windows and report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
