A huge array of items owned by the late Royal Family fashion designer Ian Thomas is set to go under the hammer later this month in Amersham.

In total, 525 lots are set to go on sale, with the items expected to fetch over £100,000 at the Amersham Auction Rooms on October 30.

Ian Thomas worked as the Queen’s dress designer for over 20 years and also designed outfits for the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret during his career.

The array of items have come to auction following the death of Mr Thomas’s inheritor in 2015, after Mr Thomas himself passed away in 1993.

Listed below are some of the most striking lots set to go on sale.

• A monochrome photograph, attributed to Cecil Beaton, bearing Queen Elizabeth II’s signature in an official gilded frame. The price estimate is £100 - £150.

• A Christmas card from the Royal family, including the signature of Queen Elizabeth II signature, from 1980. The price estimate is £60-£100.

• An embroidered panel produced in preparation for the Coronation dress of Queen Elizabeth II. The price estimate is £2000 - £4000.

• A mid-17th century edition of ‘The History of the Church’. The price estimate is £30-50

• Award, including ‘Member of the Royal Victorian Order'. The price estimate is £50-80.

• A selection of cutlery dating from 1859. The price estimate is £400-600.
