THIS is the first look at a new retirement living scheme due to be build in Southampton.

Work on the McCarthy and Stone scheme in Shirley is due to start within the next few weeks.

Hampton Place, on Anglesea Road, is expected to welcome its first homeowners in autumn 2020.

The development will consists of 25 one bedroom apartments and 24 two bedroom apartments for those over 60 as well as 34 spaces.

There will also be a homeowners’ lounge, a guest suite for visiting friends and family, and lifts to all floors.

There will also be a 24-hour emergency call system and a house manager.

Ciara Hilley, divisional marketing manager for McCarthy and Stone, said: “At McCarthy and Stone we are committed to delivering the right development for the needs of the local area. We want to be able to find people the right solution for their retirement – one which will suit their changing requirements in later life.

“We have already received a significant level of interest in Hampton Place thanks to its setting and enviable location and I would now encourage local retirees to register their early interest to avoid disappointment.”

Homeowners will also be able to enjoy the landscaped gardens, which will be maintained by McCarthy and Stone’s team of experts.
