FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a 'significant' warehouse fire at the Drum Industrial Estate, near Chester-le-Street today.
The fire happened inside the Co-Operative Food Supply Chain Logistics warehouse.
A spokesperson for the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said the warehouse fire at Drum Industrial Estate has now been extinguished by our crews who remain on scene to make the site safe.
Phil Innis, Duty Group Manager said: "This was a significant fire which was dealt with quickly and professionally by our crews, their quick response meant the fire was isolated and prevented from spreading further. Great job by all involved"
The fire was attended by four crews from Durham, High Handenhold, Consett and Wheatley Hill.
