EMERGENCY services rushed to help a man who had been seen falling from a Southampton bridge this afternoon.
South Central Ambulance Service were alerted just before 1pm from members of the public "all reporting they had seen an adult male fall from the Itchen Bridge", according to a spokesperson.
The spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service added: "We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight critical care car to the river side."
Crews from Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team and Southampton Coastguard Rescue team were also alerted to the casualty "going into the water from Itchen Bridge", according to Hampshire police.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "Our teams were called to the incident and both Calshot boats did not make it in time, as the casualty was already out of the water."
The patient was taken to University Hospital Southampton for further assessment and appears to escaped with "little, if any injuries, as a result of the fall", according to a spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service.
