A SOUTHAMPTON man who assaulted a doctor, two police officers and was caught with a weapon – a four foot pole – has been ordered to complete a six week curfew.
Vernon Alan Broughton assaulted the three emergency workers during an incident in Cuckmere Lane, Millbrook, on September 1.
He also racially abused one of the officers and used threatening behaviour towards the other during the incident.
The 52-year-old, also of Cuckmere Lane, appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court this month, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of assault on an emergency worker.
He also pleaded guilty possessing an offensive weapon, one count of racially aggravated abuse and one count of using abusive words or behaviour.
He was made the subject of a 16 month community order, including a six month alcohol treatment requirement and 25 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.
Broughton was also made to have a six week electronically monitored curfew and ordered to pay £300 in compensation.
