HUNDREDS of poppy-wearing Eastleigh residents paid their respects at the town’s Remembrance Sunday ceremony.
Leigh Road Recreation Ground was packed with spectators commemorating those who served in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Following the minute of silence, prayers and hymns, dozens of poppy wreaths were placed at the foot of the war memorial in the park.
A marching band then led a parade through the nearby streets.
One attendee, Leah Simmonds, 41, said: “It’s fantastic that so many people are here to remember. It’s so important to do so, I had a tear in my eye for pretty much the whole ceremony.”
