POLICE were called to Hedge End, after a power line was hit and knocked over by a driver.
The power and telephone lines on St Johns Road fell down as a result of a road traffic collision involving a woman driving a black Vauxhall Corsa.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "An ambulance was called and luckily there were no injuries beyond bruising.'
Engineers were dispatched to the incident that occured at 1:40pm on Tuesday November 13, but officers say the closure is likely to be for 'some while'.
While St Johns Road has been temporarily closed, a diversion for cars and pedestrians has been created via Alexander Road.
Police have asked people to 'please avoid the area'.
The Daily Echo has approached SSE for a comment on whether the incident has caused any power cuts in the area and is waiting on a response.
