FESTIVE spirit returned to Winchester last night as crowds gathered to enjoy the city's annual Christmas lights switch-on.

Held in The Broadway, this year's events were hosted by Heart Radio’s Jonny Meah, who was joined by Pilgrims’ School Chamber Choir, The Spitfire Sisters, Harestock Primary School, Integr8 Dance, Theatre Royal, Rock Choir, Winchester A Capella, Winchester University Buskers Society and Body Translation Dance to provide the entertainment before the big red button was pressed.

The lights were switched on by chosen local heroes following a competition run by Winchester BID to find those who deserved to be given the honour.

Festive market stalls also lined the high street leading down to The Broadway, where the main stage provided all the action.

There was also a chance to have a go in Santa's Sleigh and have your photo taken in a giant snow globe.
