GUNWHARF Quays has opened its free light show to the public.

This is the first event of its kind at Gunwharf Quays and carries the theme of a 'Journey into winter'.

The impressive spectacle will be visible for up to five miles away from the city and will be comprised of 60 lights, and will start in the plaza area of the Quays.

Yvonne Clay, Senior Marketing Manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: "This year, we supported the fireworks display during the D-Day 75 celebrations on Southsea Common in place of our usual waterfront fireworks extravaganza. I am delighted to announce that for the first time this year, we will be hosting something bigger, better and brighter, with a spectacular light show in the Plaza – the perfect way for visitors to celebrate the arrival of Winter with their loved ones."

Spinnaker Tower and the canals will also be illuminated during the event and organisers recommend seeing the event more than once to see the show from different perspectives.

The show will run daily, Sunday to Thursday at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm on Friday and Saturday at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. Each show will last approximately eight minutes.

The show finishes on November 23.
