A MOTORCYCLE Action Group will ride across West Cumbria for two charities.

The group will take on their Two Tins Christmas Ride In on Sunday, picking up tinned food donations for Age UK and Animal Concern.

Anyone can join the bikers on their journey and the public is asked to bring preserved foods to the collection points.

The Motorcycle Action Group will start their journey at 11.30am from Keswick Central Car Park behind the Oldfellow's Pub.

They then head to Mitchell's Auction Mart in Cockermouth for the first collection at 12.30pm.

Next stop is Lidl in Maryport at around 1.15pm for a collection and Workington Tesco at 1.30pm.

The riders then set off for their last port of call to Whitehaven Golf Club for 2.15pm.

Charities meet the bikers at the golf club to collect the tin donations and riders can get together inside to warm up.

Anne Crayston of the Motorcycle Action Group said: "It is a nice thing to do for Christmas. We started in 1992 and we have only missed one year since because of the conditions.

"It's the last get together of the season for people on bikes. It raises awareness for Age Uk and Animal Concern."

She added that the event is so important because the public realise that the winter period can be difficult for the elderly and abandoned pets.
