FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder following a serious assault on a man in his thirties.

Police say a 31-year-old man suffered life threatening injures during an incident in Basingstoke on October 31.

The incident occurred between 10.30pm and 10.53pm.

Officers attended and found the victim in a rear garden of a residential property in Gershwin Road with serious head injuries.

He remains in hospital where his injuries are currently described as life changing.

Police have arrested five me, two in their thirties from Basingstoke and three in their twenties, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Officers say two of the men in their twenties are from Basingstoke and one from Middlesex.

Police say they all currently remain in custody.
