THE 16-year-old boy who was "injured and arrested" following an acid incident at Eastleigh station is still in hospital.

This comes as on Thursday November 21 at around 12:40pm, the British Transport Police, South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the station after reports of a boy being injured by a "noxious substance".

Officers confirmed that the boy received non-life threatening injuries, and that he was taken to University Hospital Southampton.

Here, he was arrested on suspicion of possession of a weapon capable of discharging a noxious substance.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Early enquiries suggest that the boy was already in possession of the substance, believed to be an acid, when he became injured and those injuries are not as a result of an assault. The boy still remains in hospital and our enquiries continue."

At the moment it is not believed any other person was involved in the incident, but the Police investigation continues.
