A FAMILY have continued their impressive fundraising effort after raising £2,810 for CLIC Sargent at an event in October.

Sheila Sahota and her family hosted a Bollywood style evening at Everest Restaurant in Southampton and have been fundraising since 2008.

The family raised £2,000 for Cancer Research UK in 2008 and, after hosting six events, have raised a total of £10,500 for a variety of charities.

Sheila said:

"As a family, we strongly believe in giving back to the community and I would like to thank my family and friends for joining us in our fundraising evenings. As a family we were delighted to recently support CLIC Sargent and find out more about how the charity supports local young cancer patients."

Last year, the charity supported over 220 children and young cancer patients from Hampshire at Southampton Hospital in their homes.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager for Hampshire, Liz Blunt said:

"It was my pleasure to recently attend the fantastic Bollywood evening in Southampton and meet the wonderful Sahota family.

At CLIC Sargent, we don’t receive any government funding, so are so grateful to families like the Sahotas for their generous support.

Our CLIC Sargent team are based at Southampton Hospital and provide vital support for families at such a difficult time and Jean’s House, our 'Home from Home' in Shirley means families can stay close by to the hospital free of charge in a homely setting. For example, £2,810 could pay for 4 families to stay three weeks each in Jean’s house."
