SIX police officers were assaulted this morning while attending a reported van break in in Hedge End.
After receiving reports of a man trying to gain access to a van in Cudworth Mead, officers were assaulted with a baton.
A 28-year-old man from Bursledon was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of an offensive weapon.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Cudworth Mead, Hedge End, following reports of a man trying to break into a van at around 7am this morning (29 November). "Officers attended and six of them were assaulted at the scene, there were no serious injuries."
The man is currently still in police custody, while the investigation continues.
