FIRST-time buyers struggling to save a deposit could soon have their own place called home with the launch of a development of properties in Welshpool.

Mid Wales and Shropshire estate agents Morris, Marshall and Poole with Norman Lloyd, in conjunction with Mid Wales Housing Association, will soon be offering a range of houses at Clos Gungrog as part of the Welsh Government’s ‘Rent to Own’ scheme.

The scheme allows tenants of rented properties to save for a deposit while they are living in them before securing a mortgage to buy the property.

The development at Clos Gungrog is being constructed by Pickstock Homes and includes three four-bedroom houses, a two-bedroom detached bungalow, six three-bedroom semi-detached houses, and four two-bedroom, semi-detached houses.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get on to the property ladder,” said Bryan Jarman, a chartered surveyor at MMP/NL.

“All the properties will have gas fired central heating and uPVC double-glazed windows. They also have generous gardens and parking facilities.”

He added: “At this stage we are inviting potential applicants to register their interest in a property. We will be holding a launch event in the New Year where interested parties will have the opportunity to learn more about the development and the rent to own scheme.”
