YET again a lorry driver, either ignores, or doesn’t see, the warning of the low bridge at Greatbridge. Satnavs maybe?
Which ever it may be, it smacks of careless driving. Two things come to mind: one would be cheap and one expensive.
The first idea would be to simply remark the bridge at least six inches lower, and set the warnings to the ‘new’ height, the second, more expensive option would be, as it is impractical to raise the railway, why not lower the road a foot?
Obviously this would involve extra drainage to prevent a ‘lake’ under the bridge, but this would not be insurmountable.
I do not know when the bridge was last measured, but when the road is being resurfaced is any of the old surface scraped off before the new is laid?
