AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a pensioner who died while in hospital after he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Michael John Rushton Hendrickx, aged 88, was admitted to Southampton General Hospital on October 31 where he was treated for a number of conditions.
Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson said that Mr Hendrickx, of Ventnor Court, Bassett, died on December 7.
A post-mortem gave a preliminary cause of death as hospital required pneumonia, fall and rib fractures.
He was also said to be suffering from Alzheimer’s dementia and frailty.
A full inquest will take place on June 1, 2020.
