A SOUTHAMPTON teenager caught driving without insurance has avoided points on his licence because a court heard a friend misled him.
Hafid Abidi Omar, 18, was caught driving a Peugeot 206 on Dawlish Avenue, Southampton, on April 26.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Omar, of Burgess Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.
But the court heard that Omar had been misled by a friend who said they would arrange for insurance upon payment and then didn't.
Omar was fined £92, ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
