A PRINCESS has made it to the ball several times to provide magical visits to children in hospital.

Mother-of-three and former holiday entertainer Emma Price, from Totton, spends her free time walking through Southampton Children’s Hospital in glass slippers and a gown to bring “a little bit of magic” to child patients.

She has volunteered there for the last few years alongside her business Enchanted Princess Parties, where she makes appearances dressed as a princess at events.

Emma, 32, started visiting families at the hospital after her two twins were born with hip dysplasia, causing the hip joint to become partially or completely dislocated.

She said: “I’ve always believed that if you have the ability to help other people, then it should be a priority to do just that.

“I've been blessed with three happy, healthy children but my twins were both born with hip dysplasia, which meant hip harnesses from six weeks old and very frequent trips to Southampton General.”

She added: “I feel so blessed to have received such amazing care, and the twins are now normal three-year-olds running around.

Not all families, however, are as lucky as mine and if I can spread some smiles among those who need it most, I absolutely will.

“I visit the wards as the princess as often as I can, trying my best to generate smiles and spread a little bit of magic. But honestly, there’s nothing else I enjoy more and I would wander the wards of the hospital every day if I could.”

Emma also fundraises at events, including a charity day at Totton and Eling FC.

Beth Hall, head of fundraising at Southampton Children’s Hospital, said: “Southampton Hospital Charity invites Princess Belle into the hospital several times a year to visit our patients in Southampton Children’s Hospital.

“It is always a delight to see the smiles on the children, their family and our staff as Belle walks around the wards. To volunteer and give up your time to cheer someone else up is an incredible thing to do."
