A HAMPSHIRE man who was caught on his phone and not wearing a seatbelt while driving has been fined more than £700.

Adam Clive Armour, 29, was caught on his phone while driving on March 13 on Athelstan Road, Southampton.

He was also found to not be wearing a seatbelt and there was no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period.

Armour, of Devonshire Gardens, Bursledon, pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of driving while on his mobile phone at Southampton Magistrates' Court.

He pleaded guilty to one account of driving without a seatbelt and one account of driving a vehicle when there was no test certificate issued within the appropriate period.

Armour was giving six points on his driving licence and was fine £100.

He was also ordered to pay £620 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £30.
