A BRAND new gym has opened up in Hampshire, giving residents a varied choice of work outs.

Fitstop has now opened its doors to the public and is planning on welcoming members of the community and potential gym subscribers at an open day.

To celebrate the launch, on Sunday, January 19, they will host an open day which will give residents a feel for the new facility.

According to the owner of Fitstop, Jamie Martin, the open day on Sunday will give people a three free workouts including a rowing class, a running class and a weight lifting opportunity.

Fitstop will open in the same building as a current Romsey gym, CrossFit.

Crossfit is a class-based fitness facility which aims to bring structured lessons and work outs as opposed to the new gym with a membership system and you can enter the gym to do bodybuilding workouts, power lifting workout and more.

Jamie, who is also a personal trainer, said: "We decided to open Fitstop because CrossFit can be intimidating and the videos online can be daunting.

"But now, people can come into Fitstop and work out how they would like without it being structured - if someone has watched World Strongest Man over Christmas and wants to give it a go, they can come here."

The 29-year-old added:"Romsey has been crying out for a fitness facility like this one so I thought I would give it a go."

He said the new gym will have new and improved equipment, which gives residents a varied option of workouts compared to Crossfit.

Jamie has been a personal trainer since he was 21 and fitness has always been his passion.

Fitstop and Crossfit is located at Unit 30, Romsey Industrial Estate, Greatbridge Road.

This comes as fitness fanatics raised £540 after taking part in a rowing marathon in aid of the Princess Anne Hospital maternity unit, Southampton.

FitStop Romsey manager Hayley Martin opened up about why she hosted the rowing marathon on January 3.
