THIS photo, taken in the early part of last century, is at the corner of Bernard Street and the junction with High Street in Southampton.
The imposing figure standing in the middle of the road outside of Holy Rood Church is thought to be a policeman but others suggest he could be connected with the Southampton tram system.
The postcard also shows the premises of Aylward and Sons the beer and wine merchants, next door to the church.
