This photograph is from one of the brightest years for Southampton school sports, 1932.
These were the teachers, players and reserves involved in Southampton’s final against Manchester at Maine Road, which ended in a draw.
On their return to Southampton, the team was met at the Central Station by a crowd of nearly 20,000 fans.
A home replay also ended in a draw, so each side held the trophy for six months.
Teachers standing are (left to right) Gosham, Coar, Charlton, Gane, Carless, Mew, Duncan and Walters. Seated: Messrs. Watson, Prevett, Wood and Newton. The boys were King, Johnson, Crook, Stansbridge, Page, Lanham (captain), Harris, Church, Buxton, Catlin, Jewett, Brown, Grigs and Petts.
