IT WAS said to have been one of the liveliest processions Southampton had seen as about 30 floats made their way through the city’s streets on January 31, 1970.
It started from the Common and made its way through Above Bar and the High Street to West Quay.
Proceeds aided the Southampton City Students Community Service scheme which helped the city’s less fortunate. It was all part of Southampton’s FLUSH week – a time for stunts and fundraising.
