A MAN caught drink-driving on a busy city centre road has been disqualified from driving.

Lee Britten, 38, was caught drink-driving at Town Quay in Southampton on December 21.

When breathalysed by police, he had 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, meaning he was double the drink-drive limit.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Britten, of Newtown Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months and fined £120.

Britten was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.
