A SOUTHAMPTON woman stole hundreds of pounds worth of items from a city department store during two shoplifting incidents in the same day.

Natasha Anne Chamberlain, jointly with another unnamed defendant, stole handbags and perfume worth £867, from John Lewis at Westquay on December 20.

The 37-year-old, again with the help of another, also stole £950 of handbags and perfume from the same store on the same day.

She also stole £117 worth of alcohol from John Lewis nine days later, on December 29.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Chamberlain, of Southampton Street, Southampton, pleaded guilty to three counts of theft.

Her sentencing was adjourned until February 20 to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

She was remanded in custody until her next hearing.
