AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after an attempted theft took place at a shop on Burgess Road.
Two men on a moped entered a shop on Burgess Road at around 11am on Wednesday February 6 and demanded a staff member hand over a cash box.
The box was handed over, but after offenders realised it was empty, they dropped it and fled the scene.
Officers are now appealing for information on the incident.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating after an attempted theft of a cash box on Burgess Road yesterday (February 6) just before 11am.
"Two men on a moped demanded a staff member hand over the box, which was empty. When the men realised this, they dropped it and then left the scene.
"Anyone who witnessed a light-coloured dirt bike-type motorcycle in the area around that time or who witnessed the attempted theft should call 101, quoting 44200046489."
