PLANS have been revealed for a revamp at a Hampshire supermarket which would double floorspace.

A single-storey extension would be added to the Co-op store in Coronation Parade, Hamble.

The new-look shop would reportedly have an extended range and choice with a focus on “fresh, healthy food, meal ideas, food-to-go” and a new vegan range.

According to a spokesperson from the Co-op the extension would enable it to improve its choice and range and to better serve the local community.

The store would increase in size to 2,400 sq ft.

As part of a nationwide scheme it would run on 100 per cent renewable electricity brought from a “green” energy provider.

Meanwhile a flat above the shop would be converted into storage space and an “improved area for colleagues”.

At the shopfront, an existing door would be replaced with a new double glazed sliding door and the current shopfront would be replaced with an aluminium clear glazed shopfront.

The existing railings at the entrance ramp will be repaired and repainted.

The extension will have a flat roof and there will be a new goods door at the rear of the proposed extension.

The proposal also includes the installation of roof mounted plant at the flat roof of the proposed extension.

The Co-op has not revealed how many jobs would be created or when work would begin if the plans are approved.

The proposals submitted to Eastleigh Borough Council will be decided by a planning officer on February 20.
