POLICE are continuing their investigations into an alleged theft at a Southampton strip club after licensing chiefs gave the green light for the venue to reopen.
Officers say they are continuing the probe into allegations of a serious crime at For Your Eyes Only in Southampton High Street.
It comes days after licensing chiefs at Southampton City Council allowed the lapdancing bar to reopen, with new conditions, following a review of the venue’s premises licence earlier this week.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “At this time, no one has been arrested, but the matter is still under investigation.”
The licensing review was launched after police wrote a letter, seen by The Echo, to the city council following an alleged incident of theft in December.
Officers sent the letter after investigating reports that a customer of the strip club paid out more than £30,000 during an eight hour-long stay at the venue.
In the letter, the force said the customer claimed he had no recollection of making the transactions.
The venue’s licence was temporarily suspended by the council licensing committee, but was reinstated on Monday following a review.
In a statement, the council said: “The committee heard the licence holder does not condone the actions reported by the police, has assisted them with their investigations and has taken numerous steps to ensure there is no repeat of the incident.”
