POLICE swarmed to a Southampton road after an incident.
Wilton Avenue was taped off in both directions and its junction with Milton Road blocked for most of the night.
One resident described his shock at returning home to find around 12 police officers and two forensics teams on his doorstep at around 10pm.
Another resident who wished to remain anonymous reported hearing shouting in the streets and youths in the area between 7pm and 9pm.
Police remain on the scene this morning carrying out investigations.
