STAFF at a Southampton restaurant have been left "heartbroken" after flooding caused by Storm Dennis has forced them to close.

The Mango Thai Tapas restaurant on Canute Road, Ocean Village, has been forced to close after they were hit with flooding following Storm Dennis over the weekend.

Several feet of water has swamped the restaurant causing a power-outage.

Most of the damage has affected the basement area of the restaurant and there are concerns over damage to the electrics.

Daily Echo:

The restaurant has been forced to close while the restaurant dries out and it is not yet known when it will reopen as the full extent of the damage cannot be assessed until the water has been cleared.

In a statement on Facebook, they said: "We are crushed.

"Unfortunately over the weekend, our lovely [restaurant] in Ocean Village got hit by Storm Dennis.

"Several feet of water throughout the whole of the basement has caused severe damage and we are all heartbroken

"We have terrible water damage and power outage so sadly we have no choice but to keep the restaurant closed until it is safe to start work on repairs

"We are doing our best to get up and running as soon as possible, thank you for your patience while we sort everything out."

Daily Echo:

The restaurant has two other branches in Portswood and Above Bar which have been unaffected by the storm and remain open.

Staff are encourage regulars to "support" the other two restaurants while the Ocean Village branch is closed.

They added: "Please come and support us at Mango Portswood and Above Bar - we really appreciate all of the love and understanding from our huge Mango family."
